As Somerset wedding photographers, we are lucky enough to get to follow along the journey of couples planning their wedding days from the very start to the finish. We get to hear all the worries and concerns they have so it’s so nice to get advice from all the recently married couples to pass on to those who are still planning their wedding day.

Spring weddings are definitely some of our favourites to photograph, it’s such a beautiful time of year. The welcome change of warmer weather and those spring time blooms such as hyacinths, tulips, garden roses and ranunculus make spring the perfect season to get married. And not to mention our favourite wedding flowers peonies that make an appearance around May/June!

It’s no secret, we love cake (who doesn’t?). Wedding cake, birthday cake, Sunday afternoon cake, you name it. We have seen some beautiful wedding cakes in our years doing wedding photography, some simple and classic, others colourful and full of fresh flowers, from rustic wedding cakes to naked wedding cakes, we love to photograph them all.

From foliage to florals to pretty blooms, we adore every kind of flower & plant out there. We always say that florals can make such a huge impact on wedding day. But what do you do with your wedding bouquet after your big day has been and gone? Well we have the answer, preserve them forever in a beautiful paperweight!

From a pretty background for your wedding day perfume, to somewhere to place your wedding rings for a beautiful photo, to the all important wedding bouquet, flowers are one of the most important aspects of your wedding day (in our humble opinion!).

There are so many ways to use flowers or foliage throughout your wedding day. Florals can make a room come to life, or create stunning centre pieces for your wedding reception, or even adorn your hair as a flower crown.

It’s no secret, we adore eucalyptus. The look, the smell, the way it can make even the most basic wedding items look pretty. Our hearts do a little fist bump every time we hear our couples say they will be using eucalyptus at their wedding, we can’t wait to hear how they will be incorporating this beautiful, versatile foliage into their big day.

As wedding photographers, we know what a taboo subject talking about no alcohol at weddings can be! But we believe an alcohol free wedding is anything but ‘dry’. With the abundance of AF versions of every drink under the sun from wine to beer to gin, there really is no better time to throw the best fun filled, hangover-free wedding of the decade! 

Oh where to start?? What a year 2019 has been! Our first wedding season in Somerset has been A-Mazing! From eucalyptus confetti, a bride arriving to the ceremony on a tractor to our first wedding in Devon, what a year! We always like to look back and reflect on another year of us being so fortunate to get to do a job we love and we are grateful to each and every one of our brides and grooms that allow us to be a part of their day.

If you think engagement shoots are just an American thing, think again! More and more couples are choosing to book an engagement or pre wedding shoot ahead of their wedding day right here in the UK. But you may ask yourself, do I need an engagement shoot?

Autumn weddings are fast becoming a firm favourite for us. The colours on the trees, the low sunlight that us photographers love, and touches of gold just like the brides gold sparkly shoes!! Lucy & Edwin chose beautiful Cambridge Cottage at Kew Gardens for their ceremony. The former royal residence of the Duke of Cambridge, Cambridge Cottage is located in a quiet part of Kew Gardens and is just perfect for an autumn wedding.

The first dance, a moment you will never forget. But how will you decide on such an important song? All first dance songs are usually pretty romantic but the right song will be the one that either has a personal meaning to both of you one where the lyrics give you goosebumps every time you hear them.

The breathtaking Somerset wedding venues are one of the main reasons we left London behind earlier this year and moved our business halfway across the country to follow our dreams of becoming wedding photographers in the South West.  From Manor Houses to quirky barns, pretty orangeries to country estates, you really are spoilt for choice here in this South West county. 

We were so excited to photograph the Somerset wedding of Caroline & Will, and even more excited that is was our first wedding at The Old Milking Parlour at Cavokay House!  We have become good friends with the venue owners since moving to Somerset so we were really looking forward to working together on this amazing wedding!

We are so happy to share this beautiful Somerset wedding with you today! We first met Zoe & Ben for a coffee when we were living in London, we listened all about how Ben grew up in Kings Hall School in Taunton and how the place had so many wonderful memories for him and his family there. They were planning on a church ceremony then onto a Disney themed reception back at Kings Hall as the bride is a HUGE Disney fan! Little did we know when we first met them that we would actually be moving 10 minutes down the road from Kings Hall School in Taunton! 

From Somerset to Scotland to the Isles of Sicily, burning orange coloured kumquats & the eucalyptus adorned details, Emily & Craig brought a touch of the mediterranean to the idyllic Somerset village of Porlock which nestles between Exmoor and the stunning coastline of West Somerset.

It was May 2018. Their email read: “Hello! It would be great to know if you have availability on our date for our wedding at Upton Barn”. After a quick google we discovered Upton Barn & Walled Garden was the prettiest barn wedding venue in Devon we had ever seen!

One of the reasons we moved 170 miles away to become Somerset wedding photographers was because of the beautiful wedding venues in the Somerset! Every single one we have visited so far (and that’s only a handful) have blown us away. And Crowcombe Court certainly did that!

“I just want to start this next chapter in our lives, with all our favourite people, with some delicious drinks on the lawn, hopefully in the sunshine, that would just be amazing!” Well Alexandria, we think your wedding dreams came true! After weeks and weeks of rain, the sun finally came out to play at this beautiful, relaxed summer wedding at the wonderful Cambridge cottage at Kew Gardens. 

Being wedding photographers in Somerset we get to work with amazing wedding suppliers in the South West! When we met the lovely Charlotte from Pastel designs, we knew we had to hear more about her and the beautiful wedding stationery she designs. Wedding stationery is the first glimpse of your wedding that your guests will see so it’s really important to get it right.

When we first started planning our own wedding we had no idea on wedding day timelines!  What time do our guests arrive? How long will we need for family photos? How long will the wedding breakfast be? Now we have been photographing weddings for over 5 years we see a similar pattern on wedding days.
