Wedding Flower Preservation - How to preserve your Somerset bouquet
From foliage to florals to pretty blooms, we adore every kind of flower & plant out there. We always say that florals can make such a huge impact on wedding day. But what do you do with your wedding bouquet after your big day has been and gone? Well we have the answer, preserve them forever in a beautiful paperweight! When we came across the Flower Preservation Workshop on Instagram last year we knew we had to find out more about them and the company behind them. We had so many questions about their products, and of course we wanted to photograph them. We met the lovely Rachael and asked her all about her work and those pretty paperweights.
How soon after the wedding do you need the flowers sent to you?
We receive flowers up to 7 days after an event so flowers arrive with us daily 7 days a week. With brides dropping their flowers off directly after the wedding or even a few days afterwards. Lots of brides also send their flowers to us as well as soon as possible after the wedding so the flowers are still as fresh as possible. It is always worth sending us a little image if you are unsure if your flowers are still ok , some flowers can bruise easily but they are only superficial so these can be gently removed without ruining the flower structure at all.
How many flowers need to be sent?
Ideally as many as you can spare - just so we can select from the flower varieties that you send to us and then preserve the best ones suitable for your paperweight.
We can enclose so many flowers within our paperweights to really represent the bouquet that you have had created for your wedding day .
On average for our 3.5" multi flowers designs ; 5/7 varieties of flowers/foliage
On average for our 4.5" multi flower designs ; 8/14 varieties of flowers/foliage
How does the bride get her wedding flowers to you?
If your wedding is not local to us , then the best way to send the flowers is via Royal Mail Special Delivery through your local post office . We advise using this service because your flowers are ensured to get to us by 1pm the following day if posted before 4.30pm.
How to securely package your flowers (foliage is really important to enclose also as this enhances the beauty of the paperweights).
You Will Need.
1 Empty Container
Kitchen Roll/cling film
Parcel Tape
Steps
On the bottom of the tupperware box place a layer of kitchen roll (this retains the moisture within the flowers much better).
Wrap WET kitchen roll JUST around the bottom of the flower stalks and foliage, then cover with cling film approx 4-5″ length
Cover flowers with another layer of Kitchen roll and SEAL THE BOX
Keep flower heads away from the edge of the box ( as this may bruise the flower head inside )
Ensure your name and address is clearly marked within the package.
Can all flowers be preserved?
Most varieties of flowers can be preserved , but there are some temperamental ones that do not like it ! These are listed on our website clearly so you can check if any of the flowers listed will be enclosed within your bouquet.
Have l left it too late to order with you, l am getting married tomorrow??
The answer 99% of the time is yes, we can accept the order still.
Although some brides do book our services prior to the wedding , there are always of last minute enquiries where brides fall in love with their flowers when they see them ( and for companies we work alongside , then we will always accept their flowers , even if we are at breaking point as we don’t like to let our clients down , the preservation process may just take a little longer to complete).
What areas do you deliver to?
Nationwide - All across the Uk and Europe
