Eden Wedding Florist Somerset

Somerset wedding florist

One of our favourite parts of any wedding day is seeing all those beautiful wedding florals! We get a little bit too excited when the wedding florist arrives and we catch that first glimpse of the bouquets, what colours are in there? Which flowers have been used? The anticipation is too much! We have had the absolute pleasure of working with some of Somerset’s best wedding florists over the years, in this weeks blog we speak to the lovely Jane from Eden Wedding Florist to ask her for top tips and advice on those beautiful wedding florals.

Please tell us a little bit about you and your floristry business

“Hi, I'm Jane Cowling. Owner and director of Eden Wedding Florist. I have been a florist for over 30 years, buying my first flower shop at the tender age of 19 and flowering thousands of weddings over the years throughout the South West of England. I started in the flower business with a traditional retail shop, expanding to incorporate a Flower School and now specialising in weddings, events and offering one- to- one training. I have worked with my wonderful, super talented side-kick Lisa for the last 20 years and between us we flower around 80 weddings each year at fabulous venues such as St. Audries Park, Crowcombe Court, Coombe Lodge, Clevedon Hall, Quantock Lakes, Huntstile Organic Farm & Taunton School, amongst many others. How lucky am I!”

How would you describe your floral style?

“Natural, countryside and seasonally inspired wedding flowers. I do have a penchant for foraging! In my opinion, all wedding flowers are enhanced with a touch of the season - velvety soft, pussy willow in the Spring, scented honeysuckle in the Summer and fluffy grasses in the Autumn.....”

Would the bride need to have chosen her dress before deciding on the bouquet?

“No, but it can help. The dress shape and style is taken into consideration when designing the bouquet but it can easily be adjusted once the dress has been chosen.”

Do you offer specific packages or is everything customised?

“All wedding flowers are individually designed for every wedding.”

Can you help the couple with ideas and inspiration, for example which areas of their wedding venue to decorate or which size bouquet is best?

“Absolutely. I have many years of experience at most wedding venues in Somerset and Devon. You will maximise your budget and most definitely get the best wedding flowers by using expert advice.”

Do you offer other decor elements such as vases or candelabras?

“ I have a large range of vases, stands, candelabras, lanterns, arches, backdrops etc. all available to hire.”

How far in advance do couples need to book your floristry services?

“Anything between 2 years and 2 weeks before the wedding. If I am available, a last-minute wedding is not a problem.”

And lastly, what are your favourite flowers?

“It changes weekly! This week it is gorgeous, blowsy ranunculus. Last week it was forget-me-nots! I do always love a large headed, scented rose though.“

Thank you so much Jane for taking the time to speak with us, we loved hearing all about you and your fantastic wedding floristry business, we could talk wedding flowers all day long, it’s one of our favourite subjects!!
