What should I wear for my engagement photos?
Somerset photography.
You’re engaged, congratulations, let the fun begin! And what better way to kick off the celebrations than with an engagement photoshoot. But, what do your wear for an engagement session? Fear not, we are here to help you out. Firstly, you need to think about the location of your engagement photoshoot. You don’t want to turn up to a beach engagement session in November in high heels and a summer dress, so plan your outfit according to the season and the location.
Our number 1 tip for planning your engagement shoot outfit is always wear clothes that make you feel fantastic, but still feel like ‘you’. You know what suits you best and what makes you feel uncomfortable, so plan your outfit well in advance and be confident it makes you feel great and fits you well! If the weather is going to be on the chillier side, maybe incorporate scarves or cardigans into your wardrobe or a nice winter coat. Pinterest is alway a good place to create a mood-board for engagement outfit inspiration!
Compliment each other by co-ordinating your outfits, but don’t wear matching colours, choose your colour palette then plan your outfits within that colour family. A mixture of soft pastels of blue and pinks with white work well for the warmer months, neutral tones with a splash of colour like forest green or berry tones are a good choice for autumn or winter time.
Try to avoid crazy loud patterned clothing as they will be a distraction in the photo, and don’t opt for head-to-toe black, this is a joyous time so bring in some colour! Clothes with smaller, softer patterns such as spotty dresses or floral tops are fine, just make sure the pattern is delicate and not too large, and avoid anything with large logos on. And don’t be afraid to add a bit of sparkle if that’s your thing!
Ladies, if you do who want to wear your favourite heels, maybe bring some flats too in case you have to walk to get to a great location. A statement necklace can add a nice focal point for your neckline, and also think about getting your nails painted for those close up shots of your beautiful engagement ring!
Most importantly….. you want to enjoy yourselves and have fun! If you choose the right photographer then trust in them to bring out the best in you and get you even more excited for the big day!
