Somerset wedding photographer - Eco-friendly wedding with a Boho wedding dress, botanical touches and shades of green
We are kicking off the new year with one of our favourite weddings of 2021! Lydia & Luke got married at Dillington Cider Barn, a new Somerset wedding venue in the heart of the English Countryside. It was important to the couple to keep the wedding as eco-friendly as possible so there were lots of DIY items which made the day so personal to them.
It was a beautiful autumnul morning when we arrived to the bride and her bridal party who were getting ready at the idyllic Dairy House on Dillington Estate. There was such a relaxed atmosphere as all the girls were getting ready, we took Lydia’s stunning boho wedding dress outside to photograph as it was such a beautiful day! The hair and makeup was finished and Lydia stepped into her wedding dress, she had the biggest smile on her face that just lit up the room. All her bridesmaids wore a sage green skirt with a mix of their choice of white top, the junior bridesmaid wore a lovely sage green boho flower girl dress, she looked so pretty!!
James headed to Atherston House where the groom was getting ready with his groomsmen. The guys were a right lively bunch, they were already cracking jokes which carried on throughout the whole day. They all wore brown suits from Moss Bros which fit with the rustic theme of the day perfectly.
The ceremony was held at the Cider Barn in Whitelacton Somerset, it’s a stunning rustic wedding venue with lots of character. They had a few botanical touches dotted around the venue and a hexagon arch as a backdrop for their vows. It was such an emotional ceremony, lots of smiles and laughter, you could really feel the love between the two of them, we must admit, we could feel ourselves tearing up a bit a few times as we had go to know the couple really well before the wedding so it felt like we were watching our friends get married!
Everybody headed outside the barn for a confetti exit, then they all enjoyed drinks in the warm, September sunshine. The couple had lawn games scattered around and the guests really made the most of them. After a few family photos, we took the newlyweds away for their couple portraits. We were really spoilt for choice on the grounds of Dillington Estate, we had so much fun photographing the bride and groom, this is definitely one of our favourite parts of the wedding day!
Lydia & Luke headed back the the Cider Barn to join their guests, they had hired Space Hoppers and it was time for a few races!! Oh, it was hilarious watching everyone bounce along on these retro 80’s props!! For their evening reception, they opted for vegetarian platters which looked delicious. The speeches were made, and we must say, they were so funny!! We had to try to stop laughing so we could keep our cameras still whilst we photographed!
The new Mr & Mrs took to the dancefloor for their first dance as husband and wife. The sun was setting and that gorgeous golden hour that us photographers just LOVE was happening, so we whisked the couple out for a few more golden hour photos that were honestly some of our favourite photos of all time. We aren’t blessed with that beautiful, low light very often here in England, so when it does happen on wedding day, we (James especially!) get very excited! Lydia & Luke can testify this by the excited shrieks from James that day :-)
We said our goodbyes after a few final fun photos for the couple and left them dancing the night away surrounded by the idyllic Somerset countryside.
Lydia & Luke, thank you so much for choosing us as your Somerset wedding photographers, your day will always have a special place in our hearts. And we were over the moon to see your wedding featured on the amazing Boho weddings! If anybody would like to take a peek click here
Much love, J&K x
