Coombe Lodge wedding photographer - Spring wedding at Coombe Lodge

Coombe Lodge Photography

Ever since visiting the majestic Coombe Lodge in Blagdon a few years ago, we have been yearning to photograph a wedding at this dream wedding venue in Bristol, and our dreams of being a Coombe Lodge photographer finally came true! When Dan & Holly first contacted us and told us about their plans for their big day, from the wedding theme of 'bringing the outside in’ due to their love of the great outdoors, to the beautiful green tones and doughnuts, lots and lots of doughnuts, we just knew this Coombe Lodge wedding was going to be magical.

We arrived at this stunning Manor House wedding venue in Bristol which is set in idyllic gardens with views over the English countryside, the birds were tweeting and there was an air of that warm spring sunshine which was just perfect for this march wedding. The bride got ready in the elegant bridal suite along with her 4 bridesmaids. There were bubbles being poured and dunkin’ doughnuts being eaten, and there were a whole lot of laughs between these close friends as everyone was getting ready. The wedding bouquet was exquisite, it even had succulents dotted amongst the foliage!

The groom and his groomsmen were getting ready in another part of the house, we love it when there is enough accommodation for everybody to get ready on-site, it makes for a super relaxed wedding day! The grooms father was on hand to help Dan with the final touches before they all made their way down to greet the guests arriving. The bride made her entrance down the pretty staircase and the ceremony began. There was lots of beautiful eucalyptus dotted around and a pretty foliage wedding arch as a backdrop to the ceremony in the romantic music room at Coombe Lodge which is filled with beautiful light and airy light which us natural light photographers love! It was a really lovely ceremony, the registrar did a wonderful job of bringing a few laughs and lots of joy as the vows were said.

After the newlyweds walked down the aisle to lots of clapping and cheers, we all headed out onto the grounds of Coombe Lodge for the fun confetti exit. We took a few family photos and the bridal party, and with the stunning English countryside as a backdrop, they were just beautiful! We whisked the new Mr & Mrs away for a few couple portraits before everybody was called in for the wedding breakfast. The speeches were so funny (it’s always so hard not laugh at the jokes at this point!) and all the guests were treated to delicious food and drinks.  You know that we always get excited to see the wedding cake, and whenever we hear our friend Holly is making the cake, we always know it is going to be amazing! And this one was epic! A 3-tiered semi-naked beauty covered in foliage and doughnuts! Yes, doughnuts on a wedding cake, we could definitely get on board with that wedding trend!!

A few evening guests started to arrive and were entertained by a magician whilst the drinks flowed. Our friend Kieran set up his DJ booth and the couple were invited to cut into their stunning wedding cake ahead of their first dance as husband and wife. Somerset DJ Kieran always gets the party started, we find ourselves singing and stomping our feet along to the tunes whilst capturing everyone enjoying themselves and congratulating the newlyweds.

We can honestly say, our first time as Coombe Lodge wedding photographers did not disappoint one little bit!! Dan & Holly, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for allowing us to capture your amazing Coombe Lodge wedding. And thank you to the fantastic staff for hosting such a dream wedding day. We are so excited for all the weddings we have at Coombe Lodge this year, and we cannot wait to share them all with you! Much love, J&K x
