Spring wedding in the heart of the Quantock Hills full of florals with Emerald green touches - Somerset Weddings

It’s always great to photograph at a new Somerset wedding venue, we had visited Combe House Hotel a couple of times in the past and were so excited to finally shoot a real wedding there.

We arrived with the bride Amy on the sunniest of days, the birds were singing and the scent of the sweet smelling countryside had us all in the highest of spirits. Amy was so relaxed whilst getting ready with her bridesmaids, our friend Leanna Biggs was in charge of hair and make up and as always, was making everyone feel super calm and at ease. Amy chose the most beautiful vintage 1970’s wedding dress and she couldn’t have chosen a more perfect dress to suit her!! We were in love with the stunning emerald green engagement ring that belonged to Henry’s Grandmother, Kerrie could not take her eyes off it!! What a beautiful keepsake. One of Amy’s bridesmaids surprised her with a pair of stunning emerald green shoes by British Designer Harriet Wilde, Amy was simply glowing as she slipped them on before heading off to the ceremony.

The groom Henry arrived with his best man along with their Dachshund Dill who was wearing the sweetest dog bow tie!! The groom had opted for a grey 3-piece suit with a floral tie & handkerchief, perfect to tie in with all the amazing florals created by his mum Claire who is a local Somerset florist. From vases adorned with florals to the bouquet full of spring wedding flowers, we were in floral heaven!

The wedding guests arrived, including the grooms parents accompanied by their two lovely dogs, we love it when those four-legged friends are part of the wedding day! The ceremony was held outside at Combe House Hotel, set in the heart of the Quantock Hills, surrounded by the English countryside, it is just the most tranquil of locations and perfect for a wedding ceremony. As the music started, the bridal party made their way down the aisle followed by the bride and her father. It was a beautiful ceremony with lots of emotion and a ton of love.

Afterwards, everyone enjoyed drinks on the lawn before taking their places for the all important confetti shot! After a few family formal photos we took the newlyweds and little Dill deep into the Quantocks, we have to be honest, it was a little muddy at certain points, but Henry was the perfect gentleman and carried his new wife over the worst parts! We ended up in a little opening with a babbling brook and took some beautiful couple portraits with mother nature as a backdrop, perfection!!

We headed back to Combe House Hotel where everyone enjoyed a delicious wedding breakfast. Henry and Amy asked Somerset Cake Maker Tib from Little Buttercup Cakery to make them a beautiful 3-tiered semi naked buttercream wedding cake with a burst of edible flowers and finished with fresh blooms by the grooms mum, it was gorgeous. We all headed outside for the cake cutting, this is always such a fun moment!!

As there were still restrictions in place preventing the couple from a traditional first dance, we took them back to where their ceremony had been held earlier that day, put what would have been their first dance song onto our mobile phone, and let them enjoy their first dance as husband and wife surrounded by the beauty of the Quantock Hills.

Thank you so much Henry & Amy (& little Dill!!) for letting us be a part of your beautiful wedding day, it’s one Somerset wedding we will never forget.

Much love, J&K x
